Sizes
At mamalila, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact to increase our sustainability. One way we can achieve this is by minimizing returns, which can contribute to excess waste and carbon emissions from shipping.
That's why we encourage you to take the time to select the right size before placing an order.
We understand that finding the right size can sometimes be challenging, especially when shopping online. That's why we offer three ways of finding your right size:
1) Want a quick guide? Then refer to this table:
Bitte in das graue leere Feld neben den XXS,… Angaben noch „mamalila“ einfügen
Flagge Dtl. Kann weg
(ist eine Kopie der Tabelle aus der AJSoft)
We tend to have bigger sizes than other lables. Therefore, look up your size numbers in this table
When you are pregnant or just gave birth: order your normal size. The inserts and expanding options of each mamalila jacket ensure enough room for either a maternity tummy or a carried child (up to the age of approx. 2 years old).
Think about what you would normally like to wear under the jacket – and if you generally prefer a tight fit or a more loose fitting jacket. Our fit indication with each jacket helps you to understand the fit of the jacket you selected.
2) We provide a detailed size chart for each item which refers to your body sizes.
By measuring yourself and referring to our size charts, you can ensure that you are ordering the correct size and reduce the likelihood of needing to return an item.
To measure yourself, simply use a tape measure and follow our easy guide below. We'll show you where to measure and how to compare your measurements to our size charts
How to measure your size:
Wearing the clothing you would expect to wear under the jacket, hold the measuring tape* loosely against your body,
*if you do not have a measuring tape, you can use a normal tape and measure the length afterwards with a ruler.
1. Chest
Relax your arms and measure around the strongest part of your breast – horizontal around your body.
2. Hips
Measure at the widest point of your hips and bottom.
3. Arm length
Start the measurement at the point where your neck ends – this is often where your T-shirt starts. Measure over the top of your shoulder to the elbow and continue to the end of your wrist.

3) But that's not all - we also offer the option to measure a jacket you already own and compare it to our measurement charts.
This is a great way to ensure you get the perfect fit, especially if you're not sure about your measurements. You just need a tape measure or folding ruler / ruler and a jacket which is similar to the mamalila you selected regarding thickness & material.
How to do:
- Lay the jacket flat on the floor
- Chest width: measure from side seam to side seam where the sleeve is inserted (armhole point)
- Hip width: measure from side seam to side seam at hip level (approximately 40cm below the chest measurement)
- Back length: measure straight down from the center of the neckline to the hem
- Sleeve length: measure from the shoulder to the sleeve cuff
- Raglan sleeve: measure from the neckline, along the shoulder, to the sleeve cuff.
In each article description, you will find the measurements of the jacket - compare it to your own jacket to find out your size.
By working together to reduce returns, we can all contribute to a more sustainable future. Thank you for considering the impact of your online shopping choices, and we hope to provide you with a great experience with our babywearing clothing!
Find your size
How to select the size of your mamalila coat:
We recommend that you order your usual size. The inserts, or expanding options, will ensure enough room for either baby bump or carried child (up to apx. 2 years old).
Our sizes are generous compared to other labels,so if you are between two sizes, choose the smaller one. We recommend to size up if you are taller than 1,75m.

For a more accurate size selection, here are two options:
Option 1 – measure an existing jacket
Take a jacket that you already own and that fits you well. Close the zip and buttons, lay it flat and measure:
-
chest width from underarm point to underarm point
-
hip width from side seam to side seam at hip level (widest point)
-
sleeve length from the collar base to sleeve hem
-
back length straight down from centre of neckline to hem (without collar)
Jacket measurements table can be found in article description or article photo stream.
Option 2 – measure yourself
Wearing the clothing you would expect to wear under the jacket, hold the measuring tape loosely against your body. Our tip: if you do not have a measuring tape, you can use a piece of string and measure the length afterwards against a ruler.
-
chest – relax your arms, measure at the widest part of your breast around your body
-
hips – measure at the widest point of your hips and bottom around your body
-
arm – from the base of your neck, where T-shirt starts, measure over the top of your shoulder to the elbow and continue to your wrist
